Corkmeet 2010, which takes place in Little Island in October, is one of the highlights of the Cork business calendar and an important opportunity for contacts to be made that will secure investment and jobs for our local communities, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, TD.
The Minister was speaking as details of the event were announced.
“Last year’s inaugural Corkmeet was a great success and there is no doubt in my mind that the links which were made between companies from across Cork and Munster have helped secure and create jobs over the past 12 months. The 2010 event is an opportunity to build on that.”
“I want to congratulate the organisers for ensuring that the number of firms represented has increased to 400 with predictions that business prospects of €10 million will be generated. It is a unique opportunity for our many specialised small and medium sized companies to sell their goods and services to other firms and to the multi nationals established in Cork and beyond.”
“For my part I look forward to using the event as another opportunity to outline the supports our network of embassies and missions abroad can offer firms which are securing jobs at home by breaking into new markets. We have used a number of events to emphasise this point, including a recent networking event at City Hall in Cork which brought the diplomatic corps and Cork business together.”
“I want to congratulate the County Council, the County and City Enterprise Boards, Cork Chamber and their other partners who have come together to ensure that Corkmeet will be an important part of our commercial calendar in 2010”, concluded Minister Martin.
