Delivering for Kerry North

  • In October 2010 Dingle Community Hospital opened with 43 residents at a cost of €16.4 million.
  • Construction is due to begin in 2011 on a 40 bed facility in Kenmare Community Hospital. The contract for construction has been awarded and is expected to create 70 jobs locally.
  • The new IDA strategy, Horizon 2020, is targeting 50% of Foreign Direct Investments outside Cork and Dublin. This means that Kerry is set to benefit.
  • Garda Numbers in Kerry have jumped from 226 in 2002 to 330 in 2010.
  • More than €79 million has been provided in capital funding for school building and modernisation projects in Kerry between 2002 and 2009.
  • The Castleisland bypass opened on the 22nd October 2010 two months ahead of schedule. The bypass will divert 70 per cent of traffic from the town centre.
  • Last year Kerry farmers received over€ 59 million under the single payment scheme in 2009.
  • We have invested €33.96 million in Water Services Investment since 2004.
  • Decentralisation of the department of tourism arts and sports to Killarney is complete and 79 members of staff have made the move. The Office of the Revenue Commissioners has decentralised 52 members to Listowel.
  • Since 2004 over €14 million has been invested in Sports Capital Programme in Kerry alone.
  • Kerry Walking Routes has received €250,000 towards the development and improvement of walking routes in Co. Kerry.
