Delivering for Dún Laoghaire

In 2006 DART trains were extended to 8-carriage length and platforms were extended in all 30 DART stations, the overhead power lines were renewed across the system along with improved accessibility.
This €176million programme doubled capacity on the DART and was the largest investment in the railways in Dublin since the introduction of the service in 1984.
We completed the DART extension to Greystones and Malahide, real time electronic information system were installed at Stations and a new station was opened at Grand Canal Dock.
We completed a number of schools in the constituency, Gaelscoil Thoabh na Coille in Kiltiernan, Monkstown Educate Together NS, Kiltiernan Church of Ireland NS and Harold Boys NS, Dalkey.
Dún Laoghaire VEC has signed a contract for a new College building in Blackrock, Co Dublin. The Department of Education and Skills recently approved funds for the project and granted the VEC sanction to proceed with the award of the contract.
The National Film School (NFS) at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology was launched in November 2003. It is a centre of excellence for education and training in film, animation, broadcasting and digital media.
Work is to begin in 2010 on a new national film school in (IADT) in Dublin. with €7.1million being provided by Government.
