Delivering for Dublin South West

  • The Centre for Cardiac Risk in Younger Persons was set up in Tallaght Hospital to provide rapid and comprehensive assessment to families following the sudden death of a loved one. The Centre opened in 2007 and to date just under 2000 patients have been evaluated.
  • We provided a new primary Care HQ for Tallaght at Chambers House.
  • The new Tallaght Stadium was officially opened in May 2009. This new stadium is a purpose built, state-of-the-art facility and is the home to Shamrock Rovers FC. Almost €10 million in Government funding has been allocated to this project.
  • All three phases of the 32km M50 Upgrade Scheme have been completed following 4 years of construction and an investment of €1billion.
  • In 2008 Barrier-free electronic tolling was introduced which saw the removal of the West-link toll plaza shaving 30 minutes off journey times for southbound motorists at peak hour.
  • Construction began on the first Luas line in 2000 with the first line, the Green line opening in June 2004 while the second line, the Red Line, opened in September 2004.
  • All 26 Luas red line trams have been extended from 30 to 40 meters.
  • By November 2006, the Luas had carried its 50 millionth passenger.
  • Tallaght Institute of Technology has received over €42 million in Government funding since 1997.
