Delivering for Dublin South East

• A new Accident and Emergency Department opened in January 2006 at St Vincent’s University Hospital.  The Department is part of a new ambulatory care and diagnostic centre built at a cost of €203m, which was officially opened in July 2006.
• The Lansdowne Road Stadium, a key sports infrastructure project, opened on time and within budget in 2010. The allocation by the Department of Tourism Arts and Sports of €4.5m in 2010 represents the retention amount of the Government's funding for the project of €191m.
• The DART Underground is a central part of the Government's Transport 21 ten-year transport investment plan linking all rail modes - DART, Commuter, Intercity, Luas and Metro.
• It will include underground stops at Docklands, Pearse, St Stephen’s Green, Christchurch and Heuston. The project is progressing and the expected completion date is 2018 subject to financing and planning decisions.
• Construction began on the first Luas line in 2000 with the first line, the Green line opening in June 2004 while the second line, the Red Line, opened in September 2004.
• We have refurbished 22 km of cycle lanes in Dublin city and are providing funding for premium cycle routes, from Portobello to Fairview.
• We completed Gaelscoil Lios na nOg in Dublin 6 and Muckross Park College in Donnybrook.
• In March 2009 UCD and TCD launched their Innovation Alliance. Significant progress has already been made towards the establishment of a joint 4th level Innovation Academy in September 2010 which will strive to transform the training of advanced science, engineering and technology students with a view to producing a new breed of business aware and entrepreneurial graduates who will drive the Smart Economy.
